This shirt was designed in honor of my son. He said to me last month something that he was having a hard time processing all of the issues surrounding Ferguson, and the execution of Eric Garner. I asked him does it make him fearful. He nodded. I asked him did he want people to stop talking about it.
He thought about it and sighed…then said no. We have to keep talking about it. This has to change.
I’m with my son.
#BlackLivesMatter isn’t going anywhere. And it shouldn’t. We have to keep talking.
My friend reminded me this week that for the cause of civil rights, Martin Luther King…
- Marched in 8 Protests
- Delivered 350 Speeches
- Wrote a Dozen Letters
- Did Countless Interviews
WE must keep talking.
To our Portland family: On Saturday January 31st we will meet at Peninsula Park, right across from the June Key Delta Community Center. Students and staff will be there to pass out shirts/sweatshirts, express our thanks to you all and then take a group picture. If you can’t come, Teespring will ship your gear directly to you.
Every purchase allows us to provide scholarships to our program, keeping this valuable opportunity in reach of the youth in our community. We are currently recruiting for our Winter session, running January 17 – March 21, 2015.
